Renewing Our Minds to Kingdom Thinking
“One Compromise here, another there, and soon enough the so-called Christian and the man in the world look the same.” -A.W. Tozer
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
Yesterday, I wrote about refinement. I shared with you how the beginning of this year has been quite a struggle for me. I have been fighting every day through things in my heart that God has been addressing before I move in to ministry. That afternoon, God took me and my ministry partners in to united prayer against the spiritual forces I was fighting (I am so blessed to have mentors and ministry partners who are willing to fight alongside with me). During the course of prayer, God gave us answers as to the roots of what I have been dealing with so that I could deal with forgiveness and dealing with the initial reactions years ago that had been incorrect. The garden of my heart was weeded and I knew God had dealt with all of the issues when he spoke a new word continuously in to my spirit; “Renew”
“Renew,” my heart heard over and over as The Lord God Almighty spoke peace in to my soul and the Holy Spirit Wind blew in to by Spirit. How good and mighty and loving our God is!!! Jesus be praised! He never ceases to love us. He never ceases to prove himself faithful.
By renewal, the Christian is transformed. The Holy Spirit and Word of God transform our mind to think in Kingdom terms, through Kingdom rules, and this is extremely important. We must not think as the world thinks or act as the world acts. We have been bought with a price, and must now stand apart and allow God to be glorified and magnified in our lives.
I have been watching a lot of old clips from the yearly Jesus Conference here in the USA recently. Today, as I began to write, I was listening to the honorable evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. Bonnke has a powerful ministry and has learned to allow himself to be the hands and feet of Christ. He spoke of the importance of Kingdom perspective and choosing to live this way. “Every human being was created for the gospel.” Reinhard Bonnke Jesus Conference 2014 where he also said,
“The gospel is the logic of God. It was not and could not be invented intellectually, It does not fit the secular mind pattern. It is more profound than the details of the genes in Adam, which God also created. We must move in the divine dimension where the devil is lost. If we live in the human dimension, then the devil is always one step ahead of us.” (emphasis added)
Furthermore, the Word of God directs us, in Galatians,
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” Galatians 5:16-17 NKJV
How do we get a kingdom perspective?
God has given us everything that we need in the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God. It is God breathed, profitable for doctrine and instruction in righteousness “That the man of God might be complete: fully equipped for EVERY good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17
God does not say PARTIALLY equipped for SOME good works.
God does not say PARTIALLY equipped for EVERY good work
God does not say FULLY equipped for SOME good works.
God says the Bible FULLY EQUIPS US for EVERY GOOD WORK!!!
HOW AMAZING IS THAT?!!!
The Bible is not just a historical book or a book of stories. It has many layers. It does tell historical stories, it demonstrates what it is to have good and bad character, it tells the story of God become flesh to dwell among us. It also teaches about Christ throughout the ENTIRE Bible! Jesus can be found in every book of the Bible, not just the four books that make up the “gospel:” Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The Bible gives prophesies, The Bible gives promises: promises that are as good and true for God’s people today as they were for the people of Israel (Abraham’s vine that Paul says we are grafted in to through Christ and should still respect according to Paul in Romans 11:11-31) and we should pray them and claim them over our lives.
Many people hear the phrase “claim it over your life” and they feel uneasy. There are many people who preach a prosperity gospel that is similar to the truth but is false doctrine. We can claim scriptures over our lives but we must make sure that we are being Biblically accurate in our use of these promises. We should never use the Bible or Christianity to benefit us, but in humility take the word for what it means and use scriptural in an accurate way. Their is POWER in the WORD OF GOD and Satan wants to discredit this power through the use of people who use it incorrectly. Do not lay down the promises and the authority that we have THROUGH CHRIST. At the same time, do not be self serving, but seek what the Lord’s will is: His good, pleasing, and perfect will: his will he gave us through the scripture.
How is a man able to know the will of God? We read it in HIS word. We also have the Holy Spirit inside of us interpreting scripture to our hearts and speaking to our spirits.
Part of the reason we must allow ourselves to be renewed is that, by doing so, we take away other voices that can interfere with the voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We allow the noise of this world to shout louder than the voice of the Spirit. God is always talking to us, but the more we fill our minds with, the less we can hear Him.
Think of it this way, have you ever missed a call because you could not hear it, even though it was turned all the way up? There may have been distractions: music, the noise of food cooking, movies playing, kids running around. Whatever it was, the phone was still ringing, but it was not heard. The sound was not perceived because there were other sounds crowding out the sound of the phone.
When we allow our lives to be filled with all kinds of business and ‘noise’ spiritually, we hear less and less spiritually. I will leave it here and expound on this in my next post as there is so much more to say on this and I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but I do believe that you get the gist of what is being said.
We must not allow ourselves to be double minded. We must not allow ourselves to serve both God and man: both God and ourselves. We must surrender ALL at the foot of the cross so that we may be used in fullness: holding nothing back, and having FULL trust that the work God began in us is able to be completed. We must trust that God and His desires for us are truly the thing that will satisfy us most because, “Every human being was created for the gospel.” Reinhard Bonnke Jesus Conference 2014.
He has called us to greater things: all of us, not just a chosen few.
